December 15, 2017 marked the first of two events at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The first event, a l’Ordre Mondial, focused on Sparkling wines from around the World. The reception was held just outside of the Victoria Ballroom where a selection of wonderful Hor’s d’Oeuvres and sparkling wine cocktails awaited the guests for the evening.
The attendees were then moved to the Sunroom where Linda Robinson lead the group in a fantastic guided tasting of six sparkling wines from Henry of Pelham in Canada, Domaine Carneros from the USA, and Taittinger from Champagne. At the end of the tasting, Linda surprised the guests with a mystery bottle of sparkling wine. After a blind tasting, guests were surveyed concerning the origin of this bottle. After a number of guesses, Linda informed the group that it was a bottle of Bride Valley produced by Steven Spurrier in Litton Cheney, Dorset, England.
After the tasting, our hosts moved the guests to our well-appointed table in the Grand Victoria Ballroom. The meal that followed was well-prepared and skillfully served by the hotel staff.
