Annual General Meeting – The Crossing at Ghost River
August 24 and 25, 2019
Ashley, Vice-Chargée de Presse
Our Annual General Meeting for 2019 was held at The Crossing at Ghost River, hosted by General Manager Jori Guetg and Chef Doug Ghanam.
Upon arrival at The Crossing, I was greeted by Jori, checked into room 16 and trotted up a set of wonderfully creaky stairs.
We gathered for a swift meeting before dinner. Business over, Jori instructed us how to access the main event. A short amble, 800 or so meters away, the trail would be marked with fairy lights.
Before reaching the river, we found a building where we enjoyed canapes and cocktails, followed by a phenomenal dinner. The setting was stunning. The river swishing through the valley below, the tantalizing aroma of a pig slowly roasting on a barbeque behind.
After dinner we settled around a log fire, blazing beside the river where we shared stories, watched the flames dance, and admired the cloudless, star-filled sky. The big dipper seemed to be only just out of reach, if only a camera could capture the scene.
Breakfast the following morning was a treat. The roast from the night before was revamped into eggs benedict with crispy crackling perched atop the egg, accompanied by a variety of fruits, yogurt, porridge, roasted potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages.
Calgary Bailliage wishes to thank The Crossing at Ghost River, General Manger Jori Guetg, Chef Doug Ghanam and everyone involved in making our weekend such a delight. It was a pleasure to be out in the wilds of Alberta with you, we hope to return!
