This evening featured wines from Barone Ricasoli

Vice-Echanson Linda Robinson walked us through this evening’s wine tasting selection.

Barone Ricasoli is a well-known wine producer in the Chianti Classico area, with gentle hills, velvety valleys, and thick woodlands of oaks and chestnut trees. The 1,200 hectares of property include almost 240 hectares of vineyards and 26 of olive groves. Situated amongst them is Brolio Castle, where Baron Francesco Ricasoli has been guiding his central Tuscan company since 1993. He has a deep respect for his renowned ancestors, who made the territory great. Francesco Ricasoli has generated new ideas and concepts to keep the vineyards sustainable and is constantly studying soil types and clonal selection of Brolio Sangiovese. He has renovated the vineyards and completely mapped them.

The new wines are an expression of his research, along with keeping true to his ancestor’s wine making history. The Ricasoli family tree has been linked to wine since 1141, already possessing Brolio castle, and they were among the first to dedicate themselves to the improvement of agriculture and vineyards in the Chianti area.

This evening we tasted 7 wines:

Masottina Collezione 96 Prosecco Rosé DOC 2020
Barone Ricasoli Brolio Chianti Classico DOCG 2020
